2nd January 2017 Hiking - Walking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Sunny and cold Max Speed: Distance Covered: 5 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Monday 2nd January – Walk **** sunny but cold The first Bank Holiday of the year and we were treated to wall to wall sunshine but cold so after a relaxing morning at home we decided to leave the bikes in the garage and go for a walk. We left home headed to Felixstowe town centre stopping at the Co-op to check the local papers to see if I had any pics, sadly not:( There weren’t any reader’s photos! Then on to the leafy Grove beautiful as ever but a bit on the muddy side. We stayed on the track around the playing field then over to the grassy lane leading to Looe Road via Colnies School and coming out by the Spar shop. Continued to what we call Conker Land (the beach huts on Brackenbury cliffs) and down to the prom turning right towards home. With the tide high we had to wait for the right moment on an outgoing wave to scramble across the beach where the prom ends. Re-joining the prom at Jacobs Ladder we were treated to a lovely sunset as we completed the last mile of very busy prom.
